Kaiya was a very happy girl before the hunger games. She had a boyfriend, two sisters, both her parents and plenty to eat. She might sound like she had it easy, but 1 month before the reaping, she had this feeling that she would be in it this year. So she began to not eat for 2 weeks, starving herself. She trained well and became strong, making sure she would not die easily. Despite his hard life, David isn't bitter or resentful. Luck has always turned in his favor when he needed it most, and, while he fears death as much as anyone, and knows that he could die at any moment, he doesn't give up. Ever. His last breath will be spent spitting an insult to his killer, no doubt.
David is possessed of a strong moral compass.He doesn't turn on his friends, even when the going gets tough. He keeps his word. When he works at something, he works hard, putting his all into it. That doesn't mean he can't lie or cheat his way into success- just look at how he survived, hiding his paltry riches from the peacekeepers, and how he works so hard at convincing everyone, even himself, that Benjamin truly is is uncle. So, while his conscience might be stained so it isn't quite lilly white, the ends have always justified the means, and that, in David's mind, is what counts.

District ten was never the most prosperous. These days, they are as weary, as indolent, as the cattle they tend. Some, the unlucky, manage the crowded factory farms towards the interior of the district. They live the longest, spending their days wading through the excrement of the livestock they use like mere machines, until eventually one of the antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria ends them.
Others wander the outskirts of the district, the wide, barren places deemed too hilly, too unstable, too barren for the farms. These nomads follow their herds, on a constant quest for water, for grass. You might call them the luckier of the groups- after all, they are free from the claustrophobic factories and the screaming of the slaughterhouses- but what little freedom they have is tainted by the constant fear of death. In the factories, you have twenty five, thirty years, even forty, if you're lucky. Out on the plains, though, and in the mountains, it's the survival of the fittest, and by no means are the half starved people of Ten the fittest in those wilds. Mountain lions, wild dogs, peacekeepers who will take any excuse to make an example of you, there's no shortage of dangers on the plains. Even if you have the skill and the good fortune to be successful with your flock, anything you get will just be taken from you by the peacekeepers when you go to town to trade your wares, wool and milk and meat, for whatever necessities of life you can't make for yourself out in the wild.
It's the latter stock, the nomads, that David is from. He was raised in a community home in one of the slum towns that are scattered on the outskirts of the central, factory cities. He was found cowering in the branches of a tree. His mother, what was left of her, was found a week later in a nearby cave, inhabited my a mountain lioness and her cubs.
Perhaps it was his weather worn features that made the caretakers of the community home think he was eleven. Perhaps it was his care worn expression. Perhaps it was laziness, or an error in filling out some form. No matter the reason, the six year old was taken in, and given the duties of a child of eight years.
Within a week of being taken in, however, he again was handed over to new caretakers, an old man claiming to be his uncle. It got him out of the community home, where he would surely have starved, or, if not, died from taking one beating too many. David realized this- after all, who hadn't seen the shambling community home children in the market, selling scraps of leather, or bits of wool they found on the floor, in hopes of getting a bite or two of bread? No matter that both of his parents were only children. He isn't one to refuse a life rank when he's about to drown.
Soon enough it became clear why the man had taken him in. David had a past caring for flocks. He was valuable. His supposed uncle, Benjamin Ray, was getting too old to walk along the steep and narrow trails of the outlying lands of the district. The two struck a deal; Benjamin would teach him the secret paths to good grazing lands, the locations of seasonal streams, warnings of what lands were claimed by what predators. In exchange, David delivered half of his earnings to his new caregiver. Thus, David came to own his own flock at the tender age of nine. At first, he stayed close to the beaten path, but as greenery grew more scare, he delved farther and farther into the dangerous regions, took the paths less traveled, and, through some stroke of fortune, he had the brains and the luck to pull it off. He supported himself and Benjamin, always thiding some portion of the rich cheese he made from his sheep's milk from the peacekeepers when they came around to collect the state's due. He also became skilled with his sling and his walking stick, his only protection from the predators who were likely as hungry as he.
Thus he lived for several years, until he legally became 13. Despite his skill with the flocks, he could never have survived without the tesserae. Despite his adding his name extra times, he didn't have his name in it many times, not compared to many boys. Only six slips labeled David Ray in shaky handwriting, six out of however many million. Maybe this is where his luck is turning. I guess we'll see.

Personality: Tobin is extremely clever, very determined, rather brave but easily angered, and  highly uncontrollable. If he gets angered enough, he will kill mercilessly. But all in all, he's a good guy.
Strengths (no more than 2)- Tobin can climb trees and and is extremely good at escaping. (Hiding, running, that kind of stuff.)

Weaknesses(at least 2)- Tobin is allergic to bee stings, so tracker jackers would kill him a lot faster. If he is enraged enough sense flees his mind and he is easily tricked, and he's not hard to make angry, despite that he is often peaceful.

Preferred Weapon(s)- Tobin's favorite weapon is the dagger, but he prefers throwing knives for long range.

Best Weapon(max 2)- Same as his preferred weapons.

Worst Weapon(at least 2)- Tobin is terrible with a spear because of it's length and has horrible aim with a slingshot.

Least Favorite Weapon(s)- Tobin hates spears, and hanging nooses because his father was hanged for a crime he was innocent of.
