Welcome!
You were flying. The houses on the fields below you were mere pinpricks; ants on a sea of lush green grass. You hadn't thought flying would be like this. It felt so easy -so comfortable- just to hover here and look down on the world. You had expected it to be harder; much harder. You thought it would take several tries to take to the air, or extensive flapping of my wings -pardon, arms-.
You felt more like you were floating somewhere; perhaps in the blue rectangles that the people down there like to swim in.
The Mortals.
You don't feel right calling them that, really. After all, you were one of them not so long ago. You remember it as though it was yesterday- but no, that sounds too cliché. You remember it as though it was... just now. It went very quickly, the transformation, and I only felt a tingling running through my bones. The feeling afterwards was one of great power; of inexhaustible energy coursing through your body in great waves. It was one that would never let you go, until you chose to release it. You were "better" in many ways, but you was still yourself. It surprised you... But you were grateful for this.
Just as you soared through the wall of silken clouds, a sudden feeling of doziness washes over you. The world goes black, slipping into an endless abyss that, in reality, only lasted a few seconds. You slid your eyelids open with tender gentleness, raising a hand to sheild your eyes from the sunlight that bored onto your clothed back. Your front is cradled in lush grass, the twittering of birds sounding from the trees above. Your sleep-stained mind was unable to comprehend the two figures standing before you.
Bright golden hair and twinkling aquamarine optics were the first thing you noticed as you lazily came to. He was young, no older than thirteen, smiling down at you with curiosity beyond what most were comfortable with. Next to him stood a man. His golden eyes shun your very existence, his cold gaze making you imperceptibly cringe. His form was lithe, fingers laced behind his back. He wore a butler's uniform, the ebony coloring adding an eerie effect to his ghostly features.
Your attention was divided from the man to the boy, who gleefully trotted up to you and grabbed your face between his two hands. You try to jerk away, but the boy's hold was tight. You eventually succumb, figuring that the boy couldn't do much damage if he tried. He was small, somewhat frail looking. Sickly. He tried to hide it with an overly flamboyant plum-colored coat, but failing to pull the wool over your perceptive eye.
"You took quite the bashing, stranger! I mean, you were almost dead! You looked hidious! Right, Claude?" the boy giggled, his head turning to look up at the stoic man who was obviously named Claude. The man murmured a quiet agreement, using an index finger to push his glasses up unto the bridge of his nose. The boy turned back to you, clapping his hands,"Yep! You've been out cold for the last three hours." he said, dragging a heeled boot across the dirt, his sunny crescent contorting into an impish grin.
This 'Claude' guy remained silent, though the young boy still rambled on about how he looked over being beaten by something unknown. He spoke of how 'Claude' had found you and dragged your nearly lifeless corpse back to their estates. You listen as best as you could, though your eye was swollen and matted with blood. A sharp pain jabbed at his chest, making you wince every now and then, earning yourself a dirty look from the boy.
"Putting your near-death experience aside, My name is Alois Trancy!" he chirped, scooping your hand up in his own and giving it a weak, yet firm shake,"Pleased to meet you!"
