Yeah.



In fact, allow me to expand on the concept.

It's that one pokemon you carry at the absolute bottom of your team, because you don't care about it. And you don't care about it because it sucks. And because it sucks, there is only one use for it: to be trapped, jailed, caged in a tiny pokeball most of its time.

Oh, there's moments of freedom for this sucky fella, but they make the slave wish to get back into the faux-comfort of its pokeball. The moments of freedom are not freedom at all - they are pure unadultered slave work, not unlike the ones that erected the pyramids of Giza. You doubt me? Moving rocks, breaking rocks, climbing rocks, cutting down trees, lighting the path for their masters (flash), even carrying them against the harshness of a waterfall or a whirlpool! All the while with a nice whippin' if they don't do their job 100% perfectly. I think the egyptian slaves still prefer building their pyramids to this.

There are some HMs perceived as cool, namely Surf and Fly. But those are not sucky! Therefore sucky pokemon are not allowed to use them. (rest assured though - it's the trainer that looks cool using them, not the pokemon)

It's a harsh life for HM slaves out there. And yet if you decide to check on them, you'll find them with that constant Bidoof-like smile:

Why/How do they keep their smile with such a harsh life?
