A sturdy, gray-pelted tom stood at the edge of camp, his gaze unfocused and blurred. With the backdrop of thousands of colors setting behind him, it was hard to focus on seeking any sign of moorland. Being neighbors with WindClan, the warrior would often hope to see his ex-best friend, Eveningsky, coming back home. But he knew it would be fruitless, he couldn't even see the moorland from his vantage point. All he could do was to imagine it in his mind's eye. Avoiding have to sigh, the senior warrior slowly clambered off the boulder he had been resting on. Perhaps some mock battles could cheer him up.

Shadevision made quick progress to the Warrior's Den to look for a partner. His pelt was softly ruffled by the breeze, but his handsome featues remained, bright against the contrast of the much more vivid colors of the sky. Oh he couldn't wait to see the stars! His favourite time of the day: nightfall. Blinking blue orbs to get accustomed to the dim lighting of the den, the senior warrior glanced around for Bearkissed. Then it hit him again. His best friend was now leader and wouldn't have time for something like a mock battle. With this thought, the wise tom did let a sigh escape him.

"Hello? Anybody up for some mock battles?"

[i was hoping they could become good friends, if not best friends <3]

Rangerflash was a hunter, not a fighter. He found no reasoning behind claws and teeth. All arguments could be mended with a healthy discussion between the parties involved. As an apprentice, he avoided battle training with fabricated excuses. "I ripped my claw" and "But hunting is much more useful!" were one of the many excuses he had supplied. Autumnbreeze had been an understanding mentor who allowed him off easy.

Moons later, regretful thoughts clouded his mind.

A deputy whose claws were blunt and inexperienced. Huh. StarClan must be ashamed of me, thought the red tabby cat who lay in his nest.

Suddenly a miracle with a gray pelt arrived.

Maybe his warrior ancestors held shame for the tomcat and entertained the idea of watching his embarrassment or maybe it was a genuine offer of help. Either or, Rangerflash tastefully grabbed it.

"I am!" He sprung from his den and bounded over to Shadevision. His high-held tail touched the den's ceiling and he wore an excited gleam in his grass-green eyes.

[awesome possum <3]

The tom blinked in surprise at hearing a response so quickly. A smile lighting up his face, the tom beamed, beckoning the way outside of the den. Not likely being under a roof, crowded with others, Shadevision was eager to escape into the fresh nighttime air. "To be honest, out of all cats I did not expect you to come out," he chuckled with a friendly smile. Swishing his plumed gray tail behind him, Shadey could have looked like some sort of grazing horse, calm, but alert. Though his sharpened claws quickly broke the illusion.

"Come on, let's go!" the senior warrior meowed, beginning to race away, his paws galloping across the ground. More acustomed to running in the dark, he moved with swift ease, a gentle lope through darkness. Truly, it had been Thunderstorm who had insisted Shadepaw do daily runs at night for his warrior training. And now as Shadevision, he appreciated it. He was a stronger warrior today because of his almost father like mentor. That was how Shadevision wanted to be like for Sabrepaw.

Rangerflash stroked his tongue against his ruffled fur before exiting into camp. Grooming had never been a necessity for the tabby cat. As a kit and apprentice, he had disregarded his fur. However, present days as an adult whose job required a tidy appearance, he had contributed an extra effort into his personal display. Even so, he only paused for a few heartbeats to run his tongue against his pelt. Thankfully, his short coat did not require much attention, thus he was able to pass with such a short grooming session.

A soft chuckled filled Rangerflash's mouth over the senior warrior's vocal observation. His eagerness had been a surprise to his own self.

The young cat dashed alongside Shadevision. His gaze lay on the setting sun, mesmerized by the colours that coated the evening sky. "I love this time of day," he voiced his thoughts aloud.

Shadevision ran swiftly to the banks of the river. The drowning sun seemed to be splattering accents of colors everywhere, dappling every corner. Perhaps this was what the kittens would call "Wonderland." It certainly did look wonderful, and so surreal too. For natural occurances like these happened every day, but the beauty made them seem once in a lifetime. Drinking in each array of color, the warrior purred, slowing down a bit. He loved how everything seemed mixed and blended together, a wonderful canvas of  an artist.

"This is my favourite time of day," the gray-pelted tom meowed, almost at the same time Rangerflash spoke of the same thing. Chuckling, Shadey twitched his whiskers in amusement. "Looks like we had more in common then I thought," the senior warrior smiled, his paws drumming softly against the ground as he galloped.

Rangerflash lit up over the announcement of their similar opinion. It was always neat finding cats whom shared a notion. Rangerflash had an elaborate mind which was difficult for many to connect with. He had grown use to such obstacle; thus, it was a moment of joy when he heard words of agreement.

It was especially interesting to find common traits in Shadevision, even if it was as little as the favourite time of day. Hm. Maybe they'd have more in common than initially thought.

"I wonder if the STIR cats have moved out by now..." He tasted the air for a scenttrail, but the heavy snow blanketed the air.

Paws moving in a flourish of movement, Shadevision let a languid smile escape him, addressing it at Rangerflash. "There is something mysterious but beautiful about the night, something bold that daytime doesn't seem to possess," the senior warrior purred, gazing at the fading brightness around him. It seemed the Moon was coming out to shine again, to spread its elegant beauty. Hearing the mention of STIR, the tom nodded.

"They did cause more trouble than they were worth, and I'm sure if they haven't yet, Bearstar will soon make sure they left no stragglers."

The talk of STIR made Rangerflash scowl. The group had progressed into something unmanageable and destructive. Moving along, his tail lashed out behind him. After the battle practice, he decided he would make a round of the borders to ensure any sign of STIR was washed from the territory.

"So about this mock fighting..." His unfinished question hung in the air as his attention diverted to his moving limbs. A new energy overwhelmed the tom. Maybe it was the adrenaline speaking up or the anger boiling within from moments spent conversing over STIR. Either way, Rangerflash was eager to begin. He drew back behind Shadevision, allowing the older warrior to guide the way.

The warrior nodded solemnly, moving at a brisk walk. He wanted to get as much battling done as possible and still rest well enough to teach Sabrepaw a proper lesson tomorrow. Hearing the mention of the main reason why they had padded over here, the tom beamed. And as his paws sunk into the damp area around the river, Shadevision stretched. It was a typical, feline stretch, one seen everyday in camp.

"Yes, why don't we start now?"
