Hazel stopped halfway up the tree when she heard the black cat hiss something. Squirrel-brainer? the small animal thought angrily. You'll learn soon enough not to insult me. Her general hate of cats paired with fury about this tom's offense, the squirrel raced up the tree, looking for something small and hard. After rustling through the higher branches some time, she found a small acorn-like nut which she carried down to the lower branches again. Aiming right for the feline's head, she threw the nut with all her might, sqeaking, "Take that, you filthy cat!"

The tom did not look up and the soft sounding thunk on his head made him jam his paw out of the hole, gawking up at the tree with narrowed silver eyes,

" Can't I get any food? I'm going to die! "

The black tom hissed trying to spot the squirrel, but it was true. The lack of a back paw made it difficult to leap or pounce, not being able to spring off of both back paws anymore. He felt a flush of defeat and sat down, fur lying flat again almost instantly as the tom licked his paw, dragging it across his ears, face, than started to lick his flank, his eyes half closed as if he was going to die already.

The black tom's eyes flicked over to the mouse hole than back up into the tree. It was no use climbing, the squirrel could go down and up twice before he made it to the top.

" Definite squirrel-brainer... I should of taken my time, slowly stalking the prey and now no fresh-kill... Ah well... Don't give up, they can't stay there forever. "

Hazel rolled her eyes when the cat spoke again. Yeah, maybe, but so is Yuki or me if you do get your food the way you want to, she thought. Peering down carefully, the squirrel assessed the black tom, eyeing him closely. It seemed to her something was unusual about his appearance, but not being used to examine cats, the rodent could not tell what it was. Maybe simply the blackness of his fur distracted her. Hazel also noticed something extraordinary about the tom's behaviour, although she could not say it was some personality trait, or whatever else it might be, she disliked: Most cats would already have raced up the tree, trying to catch her, even though the squirrel believed no cat would ever be successful in this endeavour. But these things made the little creature curious, and so she continued watching him closely from her rather safe spot in the tree. This might be getting interesting, the rodent thought.

The black tom could almost feel the squirrel mocking him from his disability, and, tail flickering, stalked over to the base of the tree trunk, peering up into the branches. Narrowing his eyes again the cat reared up and clawed at the tree trunk, presumably stretching his legs like the tree was a scratching post, his long sharp claws gouging into the bark as he broke into a yawn. Walking in a small and quick circle, the tom curled up at the base of the tree trunk, head on his big paws, grumpily waiting.

Hazel looked at the cat questioningly when he raked his claws over the bark of the tree. Sighing, she scurried back the branch and climbed a higher one, peering down from there again. The squirrel did not particulary like to be in stalemate, and now that neither she could go down the tree, nor Yuki out of her hiding place and the tom could not catch either of them, the rodent started to become annoyed and restless. Climbing down to the branch on which she had been sitting before, Hazel half-heartedly called out to the cat, "So what now?" I wonder if this cat even understands me, she thought sceptically. Or if he would even bother to listen to a squirrel.

The black tom flicked his tail tip restlessly, breaking into another yawn, laying his head atop his big front paws. He felt rather hopeless, but did not want to give up, there was still a chance. His mind started to wander after that, enough of the soppy hopeless stuff. The tom's head shot up as he heard a squeak from above, he looked up, seeing the red squirrel,

" Nothing. "

He said flatly.

Hazel sighed at the tom's answer, then called down, "And why exactly nothing? You could leave just as well." Or I can start collecting nuts and stuff to throw at him - it's better than dying of boredom, the squirrel thought, becoming highly annoyed with the tom. He's not going to catch any of us, and he should really start respecting squirrels more, she huffed while climbing even higher, where the branches started to grow thin.

(OOC: I really need to ask because the picture in your signature is intriguing me: Did you draw that yourself? It looks absolutely great! :D)

Yuki shivered in her treehole. Seeing the cat's paw leave her safety, she poked her small, pink nose out, wiggling it in a sniff. She blinked, her black eyes staring around the tree. She stepped out of the hole, dashing onto a high branch in the tree under Hazel's. "Um...cat?" she squeaked, fright still tinting her voice.

Hazel peered down from a thin, but still solid enough twig, staring angrily at the black tom. Maybe he'll listen to Yuki, for one time. After all, he tried to catch her, the rodent thought. And I'm really starting to collect something to throw at him. This cat is more annoying than hungry crows in leaf-bare, and that means something! Hopping from twig to twig, from branch to branch, the squirrel moved swiftly through the tree, looking for nuts and small pebbles. Every time she found one, she carried it to the wider branch on which she had been sitting before, from where the small creature had a good aim at the feline.

The black tom ignored the mouse and was only annoyed at the fact that the squirrel was shuffling from branch to branch, it's little claws scraping against bark. Whatever it was doing it was annoying. Now ignoring them both the tom thought better of it, he would never catch rodents again, they were so fickle and stood up, silver eyes narrowed. His ears rotated slightly listening and suddenly stalked out of the clearing, or slightly limped because of his missing paw.

OOC;; Well, they are my ideas, but I have to give the credit to Neikoish Link and her Create-A-Cat flash thing. But I also do draw cats myself pretty good, just I don't have the camera to put the pictures on here. XD

ooc: Oh my gosh I love that Create-A-Cat game! How did you put it on your siggy? I want one of those things where you can have a slideshow of your charries...that's so cool!

ic: Yuki stuck her tongue out at the tom. "Yeah, that's right! Run away, cat! Run back to your mommy and DON'T COME BACK!" She turned to Hazel. "So...why'd he leave? He's big and we're small. It's kind of turtle-brained...yet, we are quite smart for rodents."

OOC;; WELL once I created a cat, I pressed PRT SC which means 'Print Screen' which really means copied the entire screen. Opened up a Paint and pressed CTRL - V (Paste). Cut out the other stuff and saved every picture. Then went onto a GIF MAKING site like GIFNINJA.COM and loaded them all up, bada-bing bada-bang.

~Will post later, eating chicken. T_T~

The black tom almost charged back into the clearing but paused and took a deep breath, and, well, did not come back. He treaded on towards the location where he heard the splashing of water and padded out onto a river bank. The black tom sighed, but knew he must try, if he can't catch a simple rodent, he might as well try to catch a fish. The black tom stalked towards the river, and perched atop a rock jutting over the river, conveniently. His silver eyes glanced around the water, staying still and yet watching the surface for a disturbance.

OOC;; Nom nom, ate mah lunch, and cleaned the front and back porches! XD

(OOC: Sorry I was gone so long... :-[)

The grey-brown squirrel headed down from the branch she had been perched on, stopping one or two metres above the ground, still clinging to the tree trunk. "I have no idea why this cat left. All I know is, he's really annoying. And, of course, more unpleasant than annoying if one doesn't notice him approaching." Climping down a fox-length more, Hazel added, "I wonder what he's doing now."
