I step onto the first step of the stage. Head down, I take his place without a reply. I look over at the female tribute, Diana. I recognize her. The one that lots of boys were crushing on without her knowing. I am one of those boys. But that is because she is truly beautiful, smart, strong. I look at the boy I took the place of to tell him it was to protect her. I want to tell her what indeed, butbecen just thinking it, I slightly blush, but I am lucky because I am very tan and my head is down. My eyes flicker to her bright orbs.

I glance at the volunteer, just as he glanced at me. I blink once or trice, and try not to squint in confusion. I open my mouth and mouth "Why?" over to him. But I knew when I saw the blood rush to his face and it aquired a pink hue. I resist rolling my eyes and just look out at the crowd. At the corner of my eye, though, he looked at me again. I sigh, and tucked a stray hair back behind my ear. Its a habit I do when I'm aggervated a bit, but I can cover it pretty well... I think. [/color]

Ivstare at the volunteer. "No. I don't even know you...why?" I ask, willing to fight for his position. I don't want to live a miserable life like this, alone and scarred for being a tribute...No. I want to keep my tribute position and move forward with my battle.

I drag my hand down my face, but sit down, cross-legged. Now I'm glad I'm wearing my loose blue-jeans and T-shirt. I want to be cofortable when something that probaly has never happened before happened. Since when did people argue who wants to be dead? Obviosly, the one guy wants to go with me, but the other guy doesn't want help from the other. I lean back, propping myself up on my elbows, and pull a floppy hat out from my back pocket. I pull in down over my eyes, but I can still see most of the other two. I would love to see the Callers face right now, but I really shouldn't look.

This is getting interesting. I root around fo ra nut I snuck out from the house, and begin unshelling it. I risk a glance at the audience below. Confusion was written on everyone face. And I knew what they were all thinking. Why wasn't he stepping down?

I stare at the random dude. "I volunteer again." I have nothing to even live for. All my family. My emotions. Dead, that's what they all are. I can probably never gain them back.

I look at the caller with a raised eyebrow.

The Caller and the Mayor where already hovering over a book of THE RULES. The mayor snaps the book shut and the caller turns to them. "We are agreed. You will both go, but the other districts will have to also choose another member. So instead of 24 there will be 36. The Council has also agreed... amazingly." He muttered the last word under his breath composed himself back itno a smile. "Okay! You will all be escorted into your seperate rooms to be visited by your friends one last time!"

I was listening quietly during this big speech, leaning against a light post. Somehow, I managed too looked suprised and bored at the same time. At the end I gave a small clap. "Okay, wonderfull speech, completely amazed on how you did it without breathing. I'm sorry, but I would like to skip to the part where I go and say good-bye to everyone. Can we hurry that up?"

The soon-to-be-peacemaker-escorts scowled at me, but I just smiled sweetly at them in an obnoxious way. I really hate peacemakers. And they didn't exactly like me, either.

I am shoved into a room. I sit there. Nothing. Nobody comes except for Diana's mom. He tosses me a pin of a roaring lion. The symbol of power. Roaring at a dove. The symbol of peace. Peaceful power. That was a first.
