Advice?

Umm, okay, I just got a pm from someone I've never spoken to saying: "Hi, can I be your clanmate? My mother just died... please!"
I'm not really sure whether to report or respond or anything...? Like, I'm not sure if they are telling the truth, and it seems like emotional blackmail or something.
I would just like a second opinion ^^' Thank you

Wow no hearts people? Her mother just died. (Unless she is lying). You could politely report it, but still talk to the girl and see whats up?

There is a rule against baiting, which is saying something so you can get a response like 'OH! I am so sorry!" If the person's mother had really died, they most likely would PM a random person and add that to the end of the message. XD At least I wouldn't!

Fern is correct. Even if your mother did die, there is no need to spread it around to get the pity and guilt of others. People will understand, but using it to gain something is unethical.

I did feel bad... but to be honest, if his mother just died, I don't think he'd be telling it to a total stranger so I could accept his clanmate request.

Yeah, I think that reporting would be a good solution, even if it is not a lie, it is against the rules to do stuff like that.

Also, it's a cruel joke to those that may have lost their mothers. The dead of a family member shouldn't be used to get attention.

That's what I was thinking, but I just never know how to react in these situations without hurting anyone.  I guess the admins will know better what to do^^

If hes lying then i understand.. but he also may be looking to talk to someone (anyone) i know.. i lost my mom in February, but i understand that it should be reported, but dont jump to erroneous conclusions either x3 he may need some help if hes lying.. well.. then thats a different story! x3
