Bloodpaw sank his teeth into Echopaw's neck, and laughed heartlessly. "Silly she-cat. You don't understand. This is my revenge on StarClan for what they did to me. This is my revenge on Wolfpaw for all he did." Bloodpaw cried.
Echopaw let out a soft moan. The pain slowly subsided. The red, the colors...They were fading, fading away. Sounds getting far off. He was...dying. He was sure of it.
Bloodpaw bared his fangs jumped aside, barely dodging Wistful's attack. She had no idea, all the pain he'd been through. Back in MistClan, there was a prophecy, given to Dawnstar. It foretold that Shadowspirit would give birth to four kits with no father, and they would rise up to destroy the clan. Shadowspirit, a medicine cat, did indeed give.birth to four kits. They were Him, Demonpaw, Horsepaw, and Riverpaw. The four of them, however, were far from evil. They were quite kindhearted, actually. Bloodpaw hated his evil name, and Demonpaw did too. They were really just normal kits, trying as hard as they could to fit into a clan that hated them. But then the dreams started. Terrible nightmares, where the cats of StarClan would scream at him for not fulfilling the prophecy and destroying the clans.
They didn't want the clan cats to lose faith, Bloodpaw later realized. The entire point of prophecies was to scare the clanners into worshipping them. Or at least that was what he thought. Finally, one fateful morning, his apprentice cereminy came, and Bloodpaw received one last terrible nightmare as he awoke. Just after he earned his apprentice name, Bloodpaw obeyed StarClan. He murdered Dawnstar, Wolfpaw's grandmother, in cold blood. He remembered the look that he got from Wolfpaw, that pained, afraid look; and then Wolfpaw ran away, ran away from his dying family. Bloodpaw changed his name to Bloodstar, and murdered more cats. He had to obey StarClan, or they would kill him. Or worse.
Finally, Wolfpaw's mother, Flameflower, and Wolfpaw's aunt and uncle, Raintail and Pinetalon, came forward and killed poor Bloodpaw. The other three apprentices that were supposed to destroy the clan just sat there, not knowing what to do. And then...
Bloodpaw remembered awakening in a dark place, that reeked of evil. Those rotten StarClan cats had put him through all that misery, and then they sent him to the Dark Forest. How cruel.
But the Dark Forest cats understood his pain. They helped him and became his new family. They told him what he should do. And now, he was doing it. They told him that StarClan wanted to destroy MistClan descendants, so guess what? He'd do it first.
