Dovepaw clung to the weak branch of her oak tree. It was bending dangerously close to the water under her weight. She squeaked pitifully. If only she had been made an apprentice earlier, like 3 moons ago, not 3 sunrises ago. The branch snapped and she fell into the watter. She gasped as the cold immediately penetrated her undercoat and water caught in her throat. SShe thrashed around in panic, trying to get to the surface. Her lungs burned for air, but she continued to sink.....down....

Dovepaw looked at Firepaws legs and tried to copy his steady motion. It was a bit tiring, but enough to keep her afloat. She looked Firepaw over. He looked friendly enough to trust. "I'm from Riverclan" she said shamefully. Her clanmates would be embarrassed by her lack of swimming skills. "I'm Dovepaw. What's your name?"

She sighed with relief as the sunlight began to dry and warm her ruffled pelt. She managed some weak licks to her chest fur. But then collapsed into a heap. She was to exhausted to groom herself. She let out a deep breath and let herself slip into a short sleep.
