Sunlight beat down on the open moors, sapping the earth of its elixir of life. Most of the living creatures in the area had run for the shadows of the trees and the coolness of underground burrows. One soul creature moved slowly without any real purpose. A chirping bird high in the soft blue sky drew the creature's attention and it stood watching until the bird left from its sight.

The creature that was moving across the open moor without much care was Fawncloud. The pretty long haired brown and white tabby was enjoying her time. She had gone in search of patch of clovers to take a nice nap in. She loved the smell of the little green plant that banded together to sweep across sections of the moor. Her journey would take her closer towards Riverclan and the gorge though. Clovers were very delicate and picky plant growers and they searched out water.

The young warrior's mind was not really in one place. She did not care much for her warrior duties and knew that the apprentices and other warriors would take care of the fresh kill. All Fawncloud really wanted was a nice mate and a litter tucked into her side. She could already imagine the little squealing kits pushing each other for a warm nap spot. Fawncloud sighed in content at the daydream.

Her wondering paws took her to her spot and a small patch of clovers were growing. The heat of green leaf was beginning to kill the little green plants off slowly but luckily for her there was still some let. With a soft sigh Fawncloud flopped herself onto the clovers, taking a deep whiff as she did.

"Now all I need is for my perfect tom to show up and this will be a perfect day."

A snowy white tom lay stretched out in the sun, enjoying it's warmth. His white and light grey face was pressed against his small paws. And his long and slender tail was wrapped around his body. The heat would've been unbearable if it wasn't for the fact that there was a faint breeze that waved by him, ruffling his pelt ever so often  Seeing the tom in such a calm and relaxed position might not seem weird to any stranger cat that happened to pass by. But if you were familiar with the tom's personality then it would be a very peculiar thing to witness. For it was one of those very few times that the young cat wasn't being very active. It was quite rare to see the tom in such a state when he was not sleeping in his bed of moss and bracken. The cat was usually filled with energy and was always restless.

Swiftpaw unsurprisingly could not stay laying down for very long period of time. After a moment, or two, of appreciating the warmth of the fiery sun on his back, he rose to his paws and stretched. The tom then proceeded to happily roam the forest. He was headed to no place in particular, he was just content on enjoying the nice weather. However he was secretly hoping that he would come across a tree that had many branches and grip-holes so that he could easily climb up to the highest branch.

Sure enough, Swiftpaw came across a large oak tree quickly enough. The tree seemed to stretch as high as the eye could see. The tom eagerly turned his head, so he could observe the tree with his beautiful bright yellow eyes. It seemed to be awfully tall.  But Swiftpaw was not fazed by the height of the oak tree. He had noticed the many places he could grip his claws in, and already had a route up the tree planned. Not noticing the she-cat that was laying nearby, he started to clamber up the base of the tree.

I apologize, it's not that well-written. But I didn't have a long period of time to work on it.

ooc; Yes, yes please join :D and no worries I thought you wrote beautifully!

ic; A song bird soared over Fawncloud, riding on the warm thermal that was allowing it to just float in the air. If gave a soft call and another small song bird joined the other, probably a pair that was nesting nearby. Fawncloud watched the two birds with a small graceful smile, sometimes nature could be so beautiful. It also made her feel lonely, even a bird could find the right mate, why couldn't she? The kit obsessed warrior side softly and looked away from the pair as they floated off in the vast blue sky.

The clovers she was lying in stopped her from being able to smell the young apprentice near her but her sharp ears quickly picked up on the sound of him clawing his way up the massive oak nearby. She swiveled her head backwards as her ears pin pointed where the noise was coming from. Her brownish yellow eyes landed on the apprentice Swiftpaw who was, like usual, doing something with his boundless energy. Fawncloud laughed softly to herself and stood, stretching her back out and shaking off the clovers that clung to her pelt.

Softly she padded towards the tom, aware that he did not know she was there. She stopped a few tail lengths away and called to the warrior in training. "Hello Swiftpaw, are you having fun?" She gave a purr of amusement, her long tail curling around her white socked feet. Sometimes she wished she had the boundless energy that the apprentices showed off. She knew she once did and probably somewhere deep down still did but she did not tap into that energy. She turned her head slightly towards the side as she waited for his response.

Swiftpaw contently sighed, as he made his way up the tree. With the breeze lightly tickling his pelt, and the birds singing joyful melodies above his head he felt truly at peace. Nothing gave him more delight then climbing the beautiful trees that always surrounded him. There is truly nothing like climbing a tree on a charming day like this. The young apprentice thought ecstatically as he continued to ascend up the tree.

Swiftpaw had just dug his claws in to yet another grip hole when a sudden voice pierced through the relatively silent forest. The young tom nearly jumped right out of his white and grey pelt! It was fortunate that he had both of his claws stuck in the tree in front of him. For if his claws weren't digging into the trunk of the oak tree he might have tumbled down and landed in a heap at the bottom!

When the apprentice overcame his initial shock, he gazed down to the bottom of the tree. He was curious, and wondered who had spoken to him. At the base of the oak tree he spotted the beautiful she-cat, Fawncloud. "You scared me!" Swiftpaw exclaimed his voice filled with playfulness. "Yes! Climbing trees is so much fun." He said, answering her question. "You should come up, and we'll climb together!" Swiftpaw hoped she would accept his offer. He would love to have another cat sharing the delightful experience of climbing with him.

ooc; Eep thank you so much  :-[

ic; Fawncloud was amazed how easily Swiftpaw scaled the ancient oak tree. He seemed so carefree while doing it as well, like he was enjoying himself. She almost felt his joy at something so simple. Maybe climbing trees was like lying in clovers for her, just a simple joy that was easy to find. She giggled softly as he flinched from her voice, until she thought he was going to fall out of the tree. She gave a soft gasp of fear and then sighed in relief when the danger passed.

"I'm terribly sorry, I did not mean to frighten you, or almost make you fall out of the tree." She kept her voice light and soft as she looked up from the base of the tree. He had gotten quite a ways up and she gave a tiny swish of her tail when he asked, well demanded, that she climb the tree too. Fawncloud blinked once, thinking it over. Where was the harm?

She hooked her front paws into the prickly bark and hauled herself up. She had not climbed many trees in the moor since they did not grow everywhere like in Thunderclan, but it was a natural instinct most cats knew. She did have to stop and think about it though, carefully placing each of her paws until suddenly she was next to Swiftpaw.

Fawncloud wasn't so sure she enjoyed this tree climbing but she did like the soft breeze through her long pelt. "Lead the way expert." She smiled softly at Swiftpaw, wondering how high they would go. She slightly hoped not to far because she was not quite sure how she was going to get back down.

You are very wleocme! (:

Swiftpaw noticed that the she-cat gave a soft breath of relief when he had gotten himself stable once again. He frowned a bit, he hadn't meant to worry Fawncloud! "That's perfectly fine. I know that you didn't mean too." He assured her. It wasn't the warriors fault anyway, in a way it was his father's fault. The pain he had inflicted upon him caused him to be the jumpy little apprentice that he was today.

The tom's eyes shone with happiness as Fawncloud began to make her way up the tree. Though his mind began to wander away as he waited for her to reach where he was perched. Swiftpaw's mind drifted over to the thought of his beloved mother. Even though she was no longer with him, it felt as if she had been standing beside him only yesterday. He remembered the way she held her head high, and the way she would lovingly speak to him ever so clearly. It broke his heart to know that no more memories would be made involving his mother, and that never again would he see her beautiful dappled gray fur again.

Swiftpaw shook his head slightly, as if to shake the thoughts out of his head. Now was not the time to think of such depressing things. But even as Fawncloud reached his place in the oak tree, and he began to climb once again his thoughts still lingered upon the subject of his mother. Though he tried not to let the sadness show in his bright eyes.
"Let's head up to the very top!" Swiftpaw said enthusiastically, pushing the grief he felt to the back of his mind."Doesn't it feel amazing when you're climbing?" He chattered. "It feels like I could do anything!"

Fawncloud hooked her claws in a little deeper into the wood as Swiftpaw spoke. She was glad that the young apprentice forgave her. She should have thought before speaking, falling from a tree was an easy way to be killed or badly injured and Fawncloud never wanted that to happen. If she knew she had been the one to cause Swiftpaw pain she never would have been able to live with herself. The only reason she was a warrior was because medicine cat couldn't have kits.

Fawncloud noticed that happy shine vanish from his eyes for a moment but she did not comment on it. Whatever he was thinking about, and she could take a guess, was something he probably did not want to bring up. The paset of a cat could be something nasty, even for one so young. 'That is why I am almost tempted to leave, if it wasn't my faith in Starclan.' Sometimes Fawncloud wondered what it would have been like if she never would have been adopted into Windclan. Where she would be living now, and if she would already have a family. Fightning never really suited her but this was the only place she knew.

She almost missed what Swiftpaw said in her thinking and she held back a groan. She did not want to bring the young cat down so she climbed after him. Her fear was beginning to grow though, how was she suppose to get back down? Hopefully Swiftpaw would be able to show her. "Yes it sure does. I really like the breeze in my pelt." That wasn't a total lie. She did like climbing she just didn't like it so high. She took a peak down and swallowed heavily. This tree was a lot higher than she thought.

Swiftpaw had once again gotten lost in the thoughts and memories of his past. It was quite unusual for him to daydream so much when he was in the company of another cat. However it was not hard to get lost in the good and bad memories he had. For the moment being Swiftpaw was engrossed in the reminiscences of happy events. The happy glow in his eyes that he usually faked was now authentic.

The sound of Fawncloud's voice brought the tom back into reality. And it was then he realized that they were getting very close to the highest branch in the tree. Swiftpaw hadn't really been paying much attention to how high he was getting. He had just been absent-mindedly sinking his claws in to the tree and bringing himself upward in the familiar motion that was called climbing.

"I love the breeze in my pelt as well." Swiftpaw said in reply to the she-cat. "We're so close to the top!" He pointed out joyfully, looking up to the top branches of the oak tree. It wouldn't be long now until the reached the highest point, and the tom couldn't wait! He continued to be unaware of Fawncloud's discomfort.

Fawncloud did not pester the young tom as he continued to climb higher and higher int he ancient oak. He seemed lost in thought and the last thing Fawncloud wanted to do was distract him against and force him to fall out of the tree. From this height he would die without a doubt and Fawncloud would not be able to live with herself if the was true. 'At this point we are going to be in the clouds. Fawncloud knew she was pushing her self past her comfort zone but she wanted the company of the young apprentice and did not want to voice her fear and look stupid.

The tom snapped out of the day dream he was in and answered her. He seemed so happy, at least at the moment, and Fawncloud smiled very softly and slightly forced. She looked around the tom and noticed that they were indeed close to the top. She had to voice something now.

"Maybe we should stop here to look out over the clan, I have a little bit more weight than you and the smaller limbs won't be able to hold me as well." Besides if she went any higher Fawncloud was sure she would freak out. They were already at a nice wide branch and it was big enough for the pair to sit on. She stopped, not waiting to see if Swiftpaw agreed, she was not going any higher.

Fawncloud looked out over the moor and she gasped in surprise. A cat could almost see across the whole area, from the camp to even across in to the Thunderclan forest. "It's so beautiful!" Fawncloud had never seen the moor like this before, it was amazing.

Swiftpaw wasn't too keen on the idea of abandoning his goal to reach the top of the oak tree. However if the she-cat didn't want to continue, he supposed he wouldn't go on any further. Anyway, he could climb this tree on any particular day. He made a mental note to accomplish his ambition the next sunrise, or maybe even the next.

The tom nodded his agreement, and scrambled over to a thick looking branch. The branch would surely hold his weight. For Swiftpaw has little muscle, and a small amount of body fat. Which makes him quite light. Once he was settled down on the branch of the tree, he looked around at his territory. It was a sight that he had seen millions of time, but he had never gotten completely used to it. Beautiful was defiantly a word to describe the view.

"Yes, really beautiful." Swiftpaw agreed, smiling as he proudly looked over Windclan's land. "It's a view that never gets old." One of the reasons the apprentice climbed trees so often was because he loved to challenge himself. Though another reason was because of how fantastic the moor looked from so high in the air. OOC: I'm so sorry! I was busy for the past few days, which is why I didn't post back until so late. I also apologize for the post, it's pretty bad. But I had to write it quickly.

ooc; Meow no muse :( and no problem! I've been pretty busy myself.

ic; Fawncloud gave a soft sigh as Swiftpaw decided to stay with her. She did not think that her courage could take much more of the climbing. Already she had banished the idea of how she was going to get back down. She did not want to know or worry at the moment. Instead she wanted to soak in the sight she was seeing, it was truly a beautiful sight, one more of her clan mates probably hadn't seen.

"I can't believe how beautiful it is. I should have done this a long time ago." A quite purr rumbled in Fawncloud's throat. She was going to have to do this again, maybe not climb so high but do it again. Her tail curled around her front paws, just soaking in the sight in a silent manner. That and she really wasn't sure what to say to the young tom sitting next to her.

OOC:
Unfortunately I have hardly any muse either. :/

Swiftpaw was overjoyed that Fawncloud seemed to enjoy the wonderful sight. Though in the first place he had no doubt that she wouldn’t have enjoyed the view from so high up. Very few cats he had been climbing with had not liked seeing their territory from a tree. But he supposed some cats wouldn’t appreciate being so highly elevated. He hoped that the she-cat wasn’t one of the cats that didn’t enjoy being off the ground. Even though she look delighted by the point of view they had, it didn’t mean she necessarily liked being high in the air.

Though Swiftpaw pushed the thought of the back of his head when Fawncloud began to speak again. “You never climbed a tree before this?” He asked curiously, glancing over at the cat. Though he didn’t give her much time to answer his question, as he began to speak again. “I first began climbing when I was a kit!” Swiftpaw exclaimed. It was true, he had always climbed the few trees in camp when he was of a young age. It was mainly to escape his father. For when he wasn’t around in camp his parent had no excuse to get angry with him.

Fawncloud could feel Swiftpaw's happiness coming off him. It was nice to be able to enjoy what he was enjoying, no matter how simple it was. Part of Fawncloud wanted to return to her apprentice and kit days, when anything could make her happy. Life was not something that ever did good for a cat the older they got. She had seen battles, had fought and wounded cats before. Hurting cats was against her will but she had no choice. She wanted to be in the clan and to do that she had to defend her clan mates.

"I have never climbed this high no." She grinned when he exlaimed that he had been climbing as a small kit. "That is really impressive Swiftpaw! I wish I would have known about this a long time ago. It is so peaceful, like no one can find you here." Every cat had problems and Fawncloud wanted to know what made Swiftpaw start climbimg. Slowly she asked him.

"So how did you know you liked climbing trees? Did you just decide one day?" Hoepfully she was not crossing some sort of line by asking this. It had been a while since she had been so carefree around another cat.

Swiftpaw could feel himself bursting with pride as the she-cat told him she was impressed. He had never received very many compliments in his life. Though he never really understood why, it wasn’t like he never socialized with others. But the young tom didn’t really mind the fact, he didn’t feel the need to be showered with flattery. However once in a while it was rather nice to receive such kind compliments. He was also proud that he had been the one to share the experience of climbing high in a tree with Fawncloud. Surely she might have done it eventually without his influence. But you never know, maybe she wouldn’t have if he had not introduced it to her.

When the she-cat spoke about it feeling like no-one would be able to find them, he couldn’t help but thinking about how much it related to his life. He had always climbed to hide away from his fears, so no-one would be able to find him. No more dwelling in the past, he thought to himself. At least, no more dwelling in the sad memories. Just like many other cats the tom had his share of upsetting moments, but he had a large amount of good memories as well.

“Thank you,” Swiftpaw said in reply, a small smile was placed upon his face. ”I’m so happy that you like doing this. Maybe we can climb again another day!”
The tom began to grow a bit more anxious, as she began to speak again. He had a small tingling of foreboding that he wasn’t going to enjoy what she was about to say. Swiftpaw’s feeling was correct, he didn’t particularly like what he heard. The she-cat has asked a simple question. Such a simple question it was.. Though Swiftpaw wasn’t eager to answer it.

“I climbed to hide.” He murmured, there was little tone in his voice. He didn’t feel inclined to reply in full detail, so he simply didn’t. It was quite unlike the tom to not answer a question fully and freely. However this was not just any question, at least it wasn't for Swiftpaw.

Fawncloud frowned at his answer. To hide? To hide from what specifically? Fawncloud did not know much about her clan’s apprentices and how they acted around each other but maybe Swiftpaw was hiding from them or he was hiding from his mentor. Fawncloud frowned softly, deep in thought. Maybe he was hiding from something a lot deeper than silly little apprentice problems.

Fawncloud had remembered those days. Young cats could be really cruel towards each other. It could either push a cat to be stronger or force them to unravel at the seams. Was Swiftpaw one of those cats? Was he being bullied so bad that he had to hide, and possibly didn’t even want to go on with his training? Fawncloud took a swift look at him, her eyes trying to peer into his thoughts but wasn’t having any luck.

She didn’t want to push him for answers though. If it was touchy then he wouldn’t tell her anyway, why would he? She had never spoken to the young tom before and one talk was not enough for him to start spilling all his problems to her.

”I can see why you picked climbing to escape. No one can see you and there are millions of trees if someone did know. Plus the sight is beautiful, it could easily take your mind off whatever is bothering you.” She smiled softly at him, her mind yelling at her to demand Swiftpaw to tell him what was wrong.

Ooc; Meh, there is no rush! I know it is summer and people have things going on ^^
