Tears welled in Jayfeather's eyes. What was he suppose to do? He wished he could love all of them, but there was only one of him. He yowled in frustration.

Fawnspirit was padding through the forest. She jumped up on a log to cross over a stream, but because of her tail loss, she had almost no balence. She slipped and fall into the cold water with a yelp of shock

Jayfeather perked his ears as he heard paw steps. He leaped down, branch to branch, and fled into the forest, coming across a fallen, hollow tree. He crawled in it, tucking his paws and holding his breath, trying to make no sounds.

She pulled herself out of the water and back onto the log. Shivering as the breeze touched her wet skin, she carefully got to the other side than lay down in a pile of leaves

Jayfeather saw Fawnspirit and crawled out of the log, concerned for his new friend. He hurried over to her. "Are you ok? You look like you're going to freeze to death!" he lied down by her, hoping his fur would give her some warmth.
