Streaks lonely

Streak returned to the enormous cave. Padding inside she went to the hollow log and set down a wad of fresh warm moss into her nest. The fox backed out of the hollow log and stood at the entrance of the cave. Memories flooded into her mind. 'The cave used to belong to the five of us... We were a family.. We all made our nest in the hollow log, that was our den.. But they all left me here, to find there own paths and destinies.' Sadness poured into her heart, there was no one left to comfort her, there was no one left to talk to her, there was just no one left...

Streak pushed away the saddening memories and sat at the entrance for a little while longer.. It was now dusk. The day was fading away ever so slowly.. Heading back to the hollow log she stepped into her nest of warm soft moss and shut her eyes, awaiting for sleep to engulf her....

"What? How dare you say I'm not totally awesome?"
""Well... First o-"
"I don't wanna hear it~"
"Elvira!"

Two young, rare gray foxes were walking, laughing as they padded though the thick forest. One of them, started to paw at a clump of moss that sat on a rock, grinning at at the soft and springy green. The other wore a bemused expression, before grabbing the others tail, and dragging the fox along 'till it fought back, claiming it could walk. The young female batted her companions head, and much to her delight, got the exact reaction she had been hoping for.

"So Elvira, you hit me over the head for what reason, exactly?"
"It simply amuses me, Hail."
"What?!"
"Just teasing ya!"

Noises just outside of the cave awoke Streak from a peaceful slumber, alarm invaded her mind as she scrambled to stand up on all four paws. It sounded like voices, but she wasn't so sure. This wasn't exactly a common place for most foxes to live, let alone even wander off to. Streak waited a while longer. Time passed slowly for the anxious fox but she wasn't moving, until she was positive the coast was clear. Suddenly she heard the same noises again, this time even closer to the cave than before. Yes, they were definitively voices. No doubt about it...
Honestly who would have the guts to wander this far out?
Streak held her breath and waited for whoever they were to pass by, that never happened. The voices stopped for a second, then kept walking closer and closer and closer, until they were right in front of the entrance to the cave.
A feeling of dread and uncertainty crept into the pit of her stomach.
