Dixie looked at the cat who had just come in. He looked a bit bigger than Zeropaw and Cerulean, and she figured by what he was saying, he also was in charge of injured animals. It was then when Dixie noticed Cerulean drop her a piece of prey.

She looked up at him, then meowed, "Thanks." Her voice was soft, but grateful. Dixie nibbled at the prey, savoring each bit she chewed and swallowed. It felt good to eat something other than just the occasional weak mouse, or sme crow-food.

Dixie soon finished her meal, and she felt a lot less famished, but the pain in her lungs had still not gone. She listened blankly to Cerulean's words, and heard something about berries and some kind of foot. Foot? Dixie was clearly confused, but figured it was some kind of herb or something.

Cerulean nodded.  "Good.".  Then he nudged the herbs towards her.  "Eat those.  They are Juniper Berries and Coltsfoot, they'll help with your breathing." he explained them to her.  "I wanted you to eat firsr so you wouldn't take them on an empty stomach.  And Ace said he'll take care of your paw." he said with a glance at his mentor.  "Or do you want me to handle it?".

Zero instantly perked up when Ace came into the den. "Hey, I think I know you. Ace, right? Cerulean's mentor?" Zeropaw could still hear Cerulean's words ringing in her head from when they first met. "You and Ace would get along well. You need to meet him sometime." Well, here he was. She was meeting him. "So, um, what's up with this kit?" she asked awkwardly. "Broken paw?" Her cream tail lashed in the air as she watched Cerulean's mentor. She wanted to see if they maybe acted alike. Huh. That would be stupid, though. Who impersonates their mentor? Or vice versa?

Well, she was sucked into this medicine cat business. It was nothing like dealing with stupid commoners all day ina store, no way. It was helping your other high ranking non-commoner friends help...oh. Help the commoners. Duh.

Dixie sniffed the herbs, then licked them up obediently. No, they didn't taste very good, but they weren't bad either. Dixie swallowed them, letting them flow into her system. She felt inferior around all the other cats, and instinctively shrank back under their gazes.

Sheesh, all she really wanted was just one cat to come to her aid, not three! But it was help nonetheless and Dixie was grateful.

Soon after digesting the Juniper berries and coltsfoot, her breathing began to lose the pain and it was easier to inhale air. It amazed Dixie how just a few plants could help an injured cat like her. She knew that Ace and Cerulean were very lucky to have that job.

Cerulean looked over at Dixie.  "How do you feel?" he mewed gently.  "Do you want a bit more to eat?" he added.  She had a mouse and herbs.  Sure, that was a good amount.  But she looked very scrawny and hungry when he first found her, so he had to make sure.

[truff.]

"I dunno... Sure. But s-something small. I can't be taking all your food. Really, I shouldn't have even stayed this long. I assume it's best I get going soon..." Dixie mewed. Honestly, she didn't want to leave. This place would be nice. She could regain her health here..

No. She couldn't. They would never accept her, anyway. Dixie decided it was better if she got healthy, then she could leave them alone and maybe be able to fend for herself.

[perfy ♥]

Cerulean leaned down.  "You need help.  Besides, we have a lot of prey." he said, then raised his head back up.  "Would another mouse suit you?  Then we need that paw fixed up.".

[truff.]

Dixie sighed. "Sure. A mouse would be nice..." She mewed.

He nodded quickly and ran outside of his den to grab a mouse.  He rumaged through the pile for a second, then finally found a mouse.  He trotted over back to Dixie and laid the mouse in front of her.

[red.]

Ace, on the other hand had finished mending her paw. "Stay off that for awhile and come back to me every day so I can check on it."

[truff.]

Dixie looked at Ace. "What-?" She meowed. "I.. But.. Look, I can't stay here. I appreciate it... But, I don't think I'm allowed to." She meowed. "So it's best I go by tomorrow. But if you ever need help, come find me. I need to repay you all somehow."

[perfy ♥]

"No." Cerulean said.  "It's fine.  You need help." he added with a nod.  "You need to stay and rest.".

Dixie knew it would be pointless to argue, so she merely nodded her head to Cerulean. "Th-thanks. I would probably be dead if it weren't for you." She stammered nervously. "And, uh... Well, I really appreciate it." Dixie didn't meet their gazes, feeling inferior to the others.

Ace nodded. "Zeropaw can show you to the nursery, with the other kits. Or, you can stay here," he added.
